Koba Zhorzhikashvili, head coach of Georgian U-17 team, gathered his players at “Mikheil Meskhi” stadium and held the first training before leaving for Spain. On February 21, U-17 team will leave for Spain where they will hold friendly matches against Spanish team on February 22 and 24. 16 football players trained at “Mikheil Meskhi”. Lucas Hufnagel and Nika Tarkashvili were not among them. They will join the team in Spain. Bachana Arabuli who has just returned from Ukraine trained with the team. He was tested in “Dinamo” Kiev.
The team of Zhorzhikashvili held meeting in Ureki from January 20 to February 2. The team held 4 test matches against Supreme and First League clubs. U-17 team won over “Guria” and “Ozurgeti” but lost against “Kolkheti” and “Sioni” Bolnisi.
Koba Zhorzhikashvili is satisfied with the meeting. According to him, these matches were important for the preparation. Two new players – goalkeeper Giorgi Beria and midfielder Shalva Ekvtimishvili joined U-17 team.
As for debutant Nika Tarkashvili, Zhorzhikashvili watched his playing in Belgium where young football player is playing for “Beerschot” Antwerpen. Tarkashvili is forward and the coach considers him as a very interesting player.
Head coach of the team thinks that sparring against Spain is very important: “In my opinion, we will play against one of the best teams. I know coach of Spanish team. This match will do us good, we will see our strength and those defects on which we will work later”.
U-17 team will hold trainings at “Mikheil Meskhi” before leaving for Madrid.
