FC “Zestafoni”, current champion of Georgia, which is leading the tournament with 42 points, made a new transfer. According to Sergo Putkaradze, press attaché of the club, “Zestafoni” signed a 3-year contract with Abayomi Owonikoko of Nigeria.
This forward started his professional career in FC “Gagra” in 2009. He spent the whole season of Supreme League in “Gagra” (25 matches, one goal). He also played in First League (25 matches, 11 goals) though the day before the final of Davit Kipiani Cup he got injury and did not play football.
19-year-old Owonikoko had a knee injury. Beso Chikhradze, president of FC “Gagra”, hired famous Belgian surgery Mark Martens for his operation. This professor observed the rehabilitation process of the football player. According to Martens, Owonikoko will be able to train in March 2012.
“World Sport” found out that Nigerian forward will leave for the Spanish meeting with “Zestafoni”. Before Owonikoko, the Imereti club added Luka Guguchia, Guram Samushia (both from “Baia”), Levan Sharikadze (“Gagra”) and Davit Razhamashvili (“Dila” Gori).
