Today, young Georgian wrestlers who returned from World Championship were hosted by Lado Vardzelashvili, minister of Sports and Youth Affairs, at the press conference hall of the ministry. On July 26-31, Georgian Greco-Roman and freestyle wrestling teams competed in World Championship successfully. Both teams won 4 gold, 4 silver and 2 bronze medals. Greco-Roman wrestling team of Vladimir Adeishvili took the first place. Freestyle wrestling team of Nugzar Skhireli took the second place.
“I congratulate both teams on this success. The result is brilliant and of course, I am satisfied. Wrestling has a good generation and I am sure these young boys will replace members of the national team suitably. I want to thank each wrestler, coach and Wrestling Federation for good working” – stated Lado Vardzelashvili.
Kakha Getsadze, president of Wrestling Federation, mentioned support of the ministry:
“It was the most important championship for the ministry and we are happy that the teams competed well. After this championship, we know which sportsman will wrestle in the national team and which will stay in the youth one. Overall, I am satisfied with the result. Wrestling is developing and it is the most important. As for the money given by the ministry, it will increase for sure. World Championship is ahead” – added Getsadze.
