Wrestlers are Named for Upcoming Tournaments

 

Georgian Free-style and Greco-Roman style national wrestling teams start international season with new staff. According to joint decision of authority of national wrestling federation and head coaches of national teams, leaders of weight categories will start participation in competitions later, because these mentioned tournaments are not in the agenda of preparation for this important season.

Zaza Turmanidze and Begi Darchia’s teams have been having meeting in the city of Tsakhkadzor, Armenia for two weeks, they are to return in Tbilisi on January 25.
On January 28-29, Istanbul hosts “Golden Grand Prix” named after Vehbi Emre. Georgian Greco-Roman wrestling team staffed with prize winners of Georgian championship will compete at this tournament. These sportsmen are the following: Goderdzi Davitadze, Zurab Macharashvili (both of them 55 kg), Gogita Gogiberashvili (60 kg), Ucha Shavadze, Mamuka Khozrevanidze (66 kg), Shmagi Guliashvili, Goga Afriamishvili (74 kg), Giorgi Tsirekidze, Mate Sofadze, Joni Minadze (84 kg), Amiran Zarnadzr, Iakli Kajaia, Mikheil Kajaia (96 kg), Revaz Chelidze (120 kg).

Results of Georgian championship are taken into consideration in staffing of free-style wrestling team, which will compete at Yashar Dogu memorial on February 10-12. According to the preliminary information these following 11 sportsmen will compete at this memorial: Tristan Chirgadze (55kg), Giorgi Baliashvili (66 kg), Murtaz Kvesadze, BekA Lomtadze (60 kg), Giorgi Tsutskiridze, Shalva Muziashvili (66 kg), Giorgi Marsagishvili (74 kg), Marad Zoidze (84 kg), Davit Kerashvili, Mamuka Kordzaia (96 kg), Levan Seturidze (120 kg).
