World Champion Archil Chokheli Dies during Lapankuri Special Operation

 

 

During the special operation in Lapankuri three Georgians died, among them is veteran Samo wrestler, World and European champion, chairman of Georgian national sambo team Archil Chokheli.
“Till the last moment we hoped that this information would be wrong, but unfortunately this bad information has already been proved”- stated Gabriel Barjadze general secretary of Georgian Sambo Federation.
Archil Chokheli was born on May 23, 1971 in Galavani village, Mtskheta region. He is world champion (1993), twice (1994, 1997) and six times the third prize winner (1992, 96, 98, 99, 2000, 02), winner of World Cup (1997) and second prize winner (1996), European champion (1998), the second (2001) and six times the third place winner (1993, 94, 97, 99, 2000, 02). He was knight of honor. Four months ago he was appointed as chairman of Georgian national sambo team. “World Sport” expresses condolences to the mourners of dead people who died during the special operation- Archil Chokheli, Solomon Tsiklauri and Vladimer Khvedelidze.
