Women's 68th Chess Championship Started in Anaklia

Women's Georgian 68th Chess Championship has started in Anaklia resort.
According to FIDE regulations, the tournament where 13 chess players are participating will be held by circular system.
The following chess players gained a right to participate in the 68th championship without a competition: prize winners of Georgian 67th Championship (champion - Salome Melia, vice-champion - Nino Khurtsidze, bronze medal winner - Maia Lomineishvili), members of Georgian Olympic team (Lela Javakhishvili, Sophiko Khukhashvili, Bela Khotenashvili), player invited by Georgian Chess Federation (Nazi Paikidze) and representative of Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti region (Mariam Danelia). As for Meri Arabidze, Nino Batsiashvili, Maka Purtseladze, Miranda Mikadze and Sophiko Nikoladze, these chess players gained a right to compete in Supreme League after playing successfully in First League.
The tournament has opened today. The first round will be held on January 10. 13 rounds will be held and the championship will end up on January 23. January 16 is a day off.
Here is the schedule of the first round:
Sopho Khukhashvili - Nino Khurtsidze, Nazi Paikidze - Miranda Mikadze, Nino Batsiashvili - Salome Melia, Mariam Danelia - Meri Arabidze, Lela Javakhishvili - Bela Khotenashvili, Sopho Nikoladze - Maka Purtseladze, Maia Lomineishvili rests.
Chess player with the most points will win the championship. In case of equal points, places will be shared by: 1. Berger coefficient; 2. number of wins; 3. results of personal matches. If all points are equal, winner will be found out in tie-break.
Champion of Georgia will become a member of Georgian women's chess team which will compete in European Team Chess Championship 2011.
I-III-placed sportswomen will participate in Women's Georgian 69th Championship 2011 without a competition, will be financed at European Individual Women Chess Championship 2011 and will be rewarded with medals and diplomas.
Prize money of the championship is 13 500 GEL which will be shared among I-V-placed chess players:
I place – 4000 GEL, II – 3500, III – 3000, IV – 2000, V – 1000.
The mentioned prizes which will be taxed according to Georgian legislation, is not shared.
In case of a phone call at the match, chess player loses that match.
Nana Aleksandria is a main referee of the championship and Davit Kodua is a director.
