Georgian women’s team won over Bulgaria 3:1 in the 8th round of European Team Chess Championship which is underway in the city of Greece, Porto Carras. The team still has a chance to take prize places. Georgian chess players have 12 points and are sharing the 3rd-4th places with Ukrainians. Russia (15) and Poland (13) are ahead.
Nana Dzagnidze and Lela Javakhishvili played draws against Bulgarians. Salome Melia and Nino Khurtsidze won their own games. Khurtsidze has 6.5 points in 7 games and is only behind Anna Muzychuk of Slovenia (7.5 from 8).
Georgian team will play against Romania in the last 9th round.
Georgian men’s team collected 8 points from 8 rounds. The team played draw against Austria. Baadur Jobava, Levan Pantsulaia, Davit Zarkua and Merab Gagunashvili played draws. Gagunashvili played against Georgian Davit Shengelia who is playing for Austria.
Sweden will be the last opponent of Georgian men. Swedish tem has 8 points. After the previous rounds, Armenia and Germany are leading the tournament with 13-13 points. Azerbaijan and Bulgaria are behind them with one point.
