With One Breathe till the Finish

Last “holidays” of the national championship ended up. There will be only one week intervals between matches. “Dinamo” Tbilisi has missed two matches (against “Baia” and “Wit Georgia”). “Zestaponi”, main candidates of the championship, is in the same situation. The team of Geguchadze has to hold semifinal matches of Cup against “Torpedo”. “Torpedo” will play against “Dinamo”, “Wit Georgia” and “Zestaponi”.

          

02.04, 16:00. Tbilisi, “Shatili”

“Wit Georgia” (Tbilisi) – “Zestaponi” (I – 0:2, II – 0:3)

If this match does not end up with draw, one of the teams will stop its successful series. The guests have 12 unbeaten match series but “Wit Georgia” played well in last rounds. The team of Merab Kochlashvili beat “Torpedo” (2:1) in the previous round. It was their 5th won match.

In spite of that both teams won both matches in the current season, “Wit Georgia” has advantage in 19 matches. They won 9 times and “Zestaponi” won 7 times (ball difference 30:27 in the favor of “Wit Georgia”).

“Kolkheti” (Poti) – “Spartaki” (Tskhinvali) (I – 1:0, II – 0:4).

This is a match of principle for both teams. Besides that, Soso Pilia organized a meeting for “Kolkheti”, bought 2 new football players while have a 2-week pause. These players are Zamir Janashia and Pavle Datunaishvili. “Spartaki” has a new player – Lasha Jakobia has returned to Georgian Championship and will play for “Spartaki”.

Beside this season matches, opponents held two matches against each other. It was in 2005/2006 when both teams left Supreme League (“Kolkheti” took the 10th place and “Spartaki” won over “Gagra” 2:1 in playoff). “Kolkheti” won both matches (3:1, 3:0) 5 years ago.

The teams won home matches in this season. They started playing against each other in First League. As for Supreme League, last season was their debut. “Samtredia” won 2 matches and “Baia” – 3 matches. Ball difference is in the favor of “Baia” – 9:7.

“Sioni” (Bolnisi) – “Olimpi” (Rustavi) (I – 2:1, II – 1:3).

Regional derby is interesting because the teams have different goals. “Sioni” is fighting for staying in Supreme League. “Olimpi” wants to keep the championship. “Sioni” has new head coach Khvicha Kasrashvili who did not make sensation (0:0) in Zestaponi in the previous round.

As for statistics, “Olimpi” and “Sioni” held 21 matches against each other. “Olimpi” won 11 matches and “Sioni” won 5 matches (ball difference 27:13).

“Torpedo” (Kutaisi) – “Dinamo” (Tbilisi ) (- 1:1, II – 0:1).

Georgian clasico was always active. This time will not be exception. Both teams need points for improvement their tournament situation.

After a bad start of the current circle (2 draws, 1 loss), the team of Kakha Kacharava won 3 matches in a row (ball difference 11:1).

It is the 45th Georgian clasico match. “Dinamo” won 23 matches and “Torpedo” – 12 matches (ball difference 78:44).

After 4 rounds two outsider clubs fall down in first league in XXIII Championship. An the club which will win the 8th place will play against the third place-owner and in case of win will remain in the first league.
Clubs which will take the 16th and the 17th places will leave First League. These clubs will be replaced by winners in West and East zones of Second League.'
