We Start with the Host Team in Estonia

Georgian national basketball team held the first stage (July 24 – August 4) of the preparation for EuroBasket 2011 in the city of Austria, Steinbrun, and lost two test matches against the host team. Now, the team is in Estonia and will start participation in the tournament tomorrow.

Only Georgia from the EuroBasket participants will compete in the tournament which will take place in Tallinn Saku Suurhall. Estonia, Sweden and NCAA team will be the opponents.

On August 5, at 22:00 Tbilisi time, the team of Igor Kokoshkov will play against the host team and ETV2 will broadcast live of this match. On August 6 (19:45), Georgian team will play against American team. On August 7 (19:45), Swedish team will be our opponent.

After the end of the Estonian tournament, Georgian national team will return to Steinbrun and will stay in Austria till August 11. On August 12-14, they will visit Holland and will compete in the tournament with the host and NCAA teams. On August 15-20, the team will hold the next meeting in Tbilisi. On August 16, Georgians will play against Israeli team at Sports Palace. On August 22-24, boys of Kokoshkov will hold two test matches against Latvians in Riga. The last test match will be held on August 27 against Lithuania.

After this, Georgian basketball players will leave for Klaipeda and will start preparation for the tournament. Georgian team will hold all matches of the first group stage in Klaipeda. The first match will be held against Belgium on August 31.

Small-power forward: Viktor Sanikidze, Mikheil Berishvili, Nika Tskitishvili.

Power forward: Vladimir Boisa.

Forward-center: Nika Metreveli.

Center: Zaza Pachulia, Giorgi Shermadini, Giorgi Sharabidze.

 

14 basketball players who will leave for EuroBasket will be named on August 16 after a friendly match of Georgia and Israel.
