We Should Win to Find out

Before the eighth day’s training for Euro 2012 qualifying match against Greece, Temur Ketsbaia, head coach of “Crusaders”, held the press conference. Greek journalists were more than Georgians at the media center of Mikheil Meskhi stadium. Before the press conference, almost everybody shook hands with Ketsbaia.

Temur Ketsbaia (head coach of Georgian national football team):“We have been on the team’s base for more than one week. Preparation is going on well. Boys and I are looking forward to tomorrow’s match. It does not matter which team needs to win the match. This is the match of the national team and we are ready to show up on the field and to win the match.

Perhaps, the result of this match does not decide anything for us. It is more important for Greeks because they are fighting for the first place and want to win this match. Though, the result is also important for us.

I think it is more important for Georgian team to win tomorrow’s match. In my opinion, Georgian team needs to win this match because to prove that Georgians can beat such high level teams.

- Some people think that it is time to renew the national team. What do you think about this?

- I do not want to talk about it now. We have to hold match tomorrow and let us talk about this.

- Mr. Temur, perhaps, it will be better if you announce your opinion about veteran players. The most part of your team includes the veterans. We do not think that any young player had shown up and you closed him the door the national team.

- No one needs my protection. If anything happens it will happen after the match. So, we will talk about this issue after the end of the match. I will not leave any questions without answers. I repeat, I think it is early to talk about this issue today – while one year is left till the start of the next qualifying round.

- The match against Greece does not decide anything for Georgian team. Are you going to change tactic – will you be more orientated on offence?

- There will be no changes. You all know who are in the team and how they can play. In short, we will play with the same tactic. I do not agree with you that this match is not important for us. We want to win this match and to take the third place from bottom.

- After beating Croatia, Georgian team had chance to become the leader of the group…

- I agree with you. When we lost to Latvia in Tbilisi, something happened in that match that effected on the team badly. I do not think anything remembers Georgian team to have so many goal moments in last 10 years. Believe me, in case of beating Latvia, the boys would have had different psychological mood against Malta.

- Besides that you are going to win tomorrow’s match, tell us other goals.

- I have 4-year contract with Georgian Football Federation. Our future plans are to use World 2014 qualifying round for getting at the final stage of Euro 2016. Everything is simple – the most important for us is to play in England.

After that, Temur Ketsbaia joined “Crusaders” at “Mikheil Meskhi” and headed one hour training. All 23 football players are good and tomorrow, they will try to make their fans happy.
