According to the voting “Gagra” is the rival of “Wit-Georgia” Tbilisi and “Torpedo” plays against “Zestaponi”. The voting was held by heading Nodar Kakulia a chairman of tournament committee on Thursday. Zviad Sichinava the president of GFF and Aleksandre Chivadze the vice-president also attended the voting process.
Zviad Papiashvili the executive director of “Torpedo”, Davit Kenia a selectionist and Levan Pkhakadze the president of the club were the reps of “Torpedo”. Vladimer Panov a head of the club was representative of “Zestapono” and as for ‘Wit-Georgia”, Davit Samushia finance manager and club’s sport manager and manager of public relations Davit Tavartkiladze were the reps of “Wit-Georgia”. Mikheil Apkhazava a lawyer and a chair-man of press-office represented “Gagra”.
Panovi took the first ball then Samushia did it and in a result of it was found out that “Zestaponi” would not play against “Wit-Georgia” in 1/2final. After opening the ball by Vasil Pkhakadze, it was founf out that “Torpedo” would play against “Zestaponi” and the second couple is the following “Gagra” against “Wit-Georgia”.
Tournament committee will settle the date of 1/2final matches in three days as well as the calendar of National Championship. “Torpedo” and “Gagra” will host the first match. After finishing voting process, “World Sport” talked semifinalists.
Gia Gigatadze (head coach of “Torpedo”): The results of voting could be better, but.. everything is expected at Cup. We will do our best to go through the final. We will strengthen our opportunities for winning prize-places at Cup as well as at Championship. Our goal is to play at European tournaments. It is decided that Gia Megrelidze and Rezo Gotsiridze will join us. There are negotiations with several players. We will start training on January 3 and from January 22 to February 3 we will have meeting in Turkey”.
Sergo Putkaradze (a head of “Zestaponi” press-centre):“It is fact that our rival is one of the strongest. There are not weak rivals in semifinal. We have to play against one of the distinguished teams of Georgia and there are quite big fights ahead. As for prediction I will restraint. Pleasant thing will be if the tribunes will be full and spectators will watch fine football”.
Merab Kochlashvili (head coach of “Wit-Georgia”): “Occasional teams do not go through the semifinal. “Gagra” is ambitious team, which it proved with winning over “Dinamo” in quarter match. I have looked through their main staff and have read their coach’s interview. I think it is pleasant fro them to play against us than against “Zestaponi’” or against “Torpedo”. For us it is also quite well result. That team won over “Dinamo’ and in a result to it we have to prepare seriously for the matches. A lot of things are depend which team will be strengthened during winter vacations. We are in equal situations. In the last season “Gagra” was playing in Supreme League and its players have quite well experience. Very difficult match is ahead. On January 5-6 we will have medical check and will start training on January 8. As far as your know Jaba Lipartia is leaving the team. Besides him it is quite possible two leading players to leave the team, the reason is wish to continue career abroad”.
Goderzi Chikhradze (Vice-president of “Gagra”): “Voting results are not bad for us. “Wit-Georgia” has the only advantages that it plays in Supreme League, in other way powers are equal. We want to go through the final. We went through the Supreme League and European tournaments and now we want to finish this job in a beautiful way. Competing of “Gagra” at European League is important for government”.
