In spite of great support of referee toward host team, Georgian U-17 rugby team defeated Portuguese team 33:17 in Lisbon and took the first place at the tournament.
It was Euro U-18 qualifying match. Two teams of the second level will play in France. It was known that Georgia and Portugal will play with England, Ireland, France, Wales, Scotland and Italy but it was important to win and to take the first place.
In the first half the referee gave the Georgians 12 fouls and the hosts – 2 fouls. But the first half ended up with the victory of the Georgians – 19:17. “The Lelos” had so much advantage that in the second half the referee could do nothing and the Georgians won 33:17. Besides that, the Georgians scored 5 tries and gained bonus point. In Grenoble the Georgian team will be No.7 seed.
