Zaza Turmanidze, head coach of Georgian freestyle wrestling team, named seven sportsmen for European Championship. On March 6-9, Georgian team will wrestle with the strongest staff in Belgrade. Only Vladimer Khinchegashvili (55kg) will lack optimal list. Khinchegashvili will participate in license tournament of London Olympic Games. That is why, Turmanidze decided to let Khinchegashvili rest.
Malkhaz Zarkua (60kg), Davit Khutsishvili (74kg), Davit Marsagishvili (84kg) and Davit Modzmanashvili (120kg) gained Olympic license at last World Championship. All four sportsmen will wrestle at European Championship. Otar Tushishvili will wrestle in 66kg and Giorgi Gogshelidze – in 96kg.
Tushishvili and Gogshelidze will be the first to wrestle at European Championship. On March 6, champions and prize winners will be found out in 66 and 96kg, on March 7 – in 55 and 60kg, on March 8 – in 74 and 120kg and on March 9 – in 84kg.
After freestyle wrestlers, Greco-Romans will wrestle on the mat. Staff of Georgian team is not known yet. Begi Darchia will make a decision in the next few days.
Manuchar Tskhadaia, the only license winner of Greco-Romans, will wrestle in 74kg. Olympic champion Manuchar Kvirkvelia will prepare for license tournaments.
Georgian freestyle wrestling team will hold the last meeting in Dusheti. Greco-Romans will prepare in Borjomi.
