The 6th memorial of Zurab Sakandelidze-Mikheil Korkia hosted by Rustavi has come to an end.
TSU beat “Sokhumi” 102:86 in the final. After “Energy Invest” and former “Tbilaviamsheni”, TSU became the 3rd team which won the mentioned memorial. “Energy Invest” has won Sakandelidze-Korkia Memorial for 4 times and “Tbilaviamsheni” has won it once.
8 Super League clubs participated in the tournament. “Army”, “Kutaisi-2010” and “Batumi” refused to compete in it. Other clubs were divided into A (MIA, Samedicino, GSAU, TSU) and B (“Dinamo”, “GTU”, “Sokhumi”, “Energy Invest”) groups. Finalists won all matches in their groups. As for the final match, TSU had advantage and the team deserved this victory.
In the first half, “Sokhumi” managed to equalize the score. But forward Mikheil Berishvili (TSU) played perfectly. He scored 19 points and helped his team to win the half with a 3-point difference – 48:45.
TSU had advantage in the second half. Forward Ilia Londaridze was the best player of TSU.
When after 5-5 penalties, Mikheil Chitashvili, Giorgi Gaprindashvili and Mikheil Berishvili left the match and Richard Mataiashvili and Zurab Korkotadze had 4-4 penalties, “Sokhumi” had a chance to save the match but they did not use this chance.
Both teams played with weak staff. Because of injuries, Mikheil Panchulidze, Giorgi Margvelashvili (both TSU) and Carl Damus (“Sokhumi”) could not play.
The most – 25-25 points were scored by Londaridze, Berishvili and Lasha Pargalava (“Sokhumi”). Londaridze made double double (15 rebounds), Berishvili and Pargalava needed one rebound and one assist to make double double.
Richard Matiashvili (19 points, 11 rebounds) and Richard Damus (16 points, 14 rebounds) made double double.
In short, TSU won the memorial. As for prizes for the best defender and forward, Mikheil Gaprindashvili and Ilia Londaridze (both TSU) won them.
