As you already know, Tornike Okriashvili, midfielder of Ukrainian “Illichivets”, won annual internet-poll of “World Sport” and became the best Georgian football player. He received 642 votes (1831 fans participated in the poll).

Awarding of Okriashvili took place at the office of “World Sport”. The 20-year-old midfielder had a good season this year. He scored goal against Belarus 1:0. It was the first match of Tornike in the national team. Okriashvili also played well against Spain 0:1.

Guram Kashia, captain of Dutch “Vitesse”, took the second place with 588 votes. Giorgi Loria, goalkeeper of “Dinamo” Tbilisi, took the third place with 280 votes.

Mamuka Pantsulaia, the first coach of Tornike Okriashvili, will receive 150 GEL every month in 2013. The first coaches of Kashia and Loria will receive 100-100 GEL.

Tornike Okriashvili: “Thank you. I am very happy to win this prize. I will give “World Sport Cup” to my little son Aleksandre this evening (Tornike christened his son yesterday). I thank all my fans who supported me. I had very strong opponents”.

Davit Bakuradze (editor-in-chief of “World Sport”): “I congratulate Tornike. He deserved this cup. His opponents also had good season. For example, Guram Kashia had a very stable season. Also, Giorgi Loria with his effective and beautiful play. Jaba Dvali was the best top scorer in “Zestafoni” and “Dinamo” Tbilisi. Davit Targamadze is one of the best players. But Okriashvili won. The fans decided it and I congratulate him. When we remember the best goals of Georgians in our history, the goal of Tornike against Belarus will remain in history. He also played well against Spain. I wish him better season this year and next years as well”.

Okriashvili will depart for Donetsk on January 6 and will join “Shakhtar”. He might continue his career in the best Ukrainian team. Let us wait – everything depends on head coach Mircea Lucescu.
