After six rounds there are three leaders with 5.5 points– Spanish Francisco Pons Valekho (2707), Azerbaijani Gadir Guseinov (2584) and Jew Ilya Smirin (2658) at chess festival in memory of Heyrad Aliev former president of Azerbaijan.
There are seven Georgian participants in group A of Nakhchivan Open 2011. Merab Gagunashvili (2599) and Mikheil Mchedlishvili (2629) have the best results. In the sixth round they played against each other and drew. They are on the 12nd and the 14th places with 4-4 points.
The tournament situation for other Georgian participants is the following: 21.Davit Benidze (2503) – 3.5; 24. Sophiko Guramishvili(2334) – 3.5; 25. Konstantine Shanava(2560) – 3.5; 26. Aleksandre Kashashvili(2329) – 3.5; 49. Akaki Shalamberidze (2360) – 1.5; Nino Imnadze (1766) who competes in group B has 3.5 points and she is on the 43rd place among 104 participants.
Nakhchivan chess festival which is named after Heidar Aliev former President of Azerbaijan contains 9 rounds. Prize money is 60 000 $ and the winner will gain 10 000$, champion also will be rewarded with special cup.
