Three in Greece

International chess tournament “Isthmia” 2011 is underway in the city of Greece, Corinthia. Davit Jojua (2505), Konstantine Shanava (2535) and Lela Javakhishvili (2469) are competing there in the name of Georgia.

After six rounds, Russian Sergey Volkov (2607) and Moldovan Dmitri Svetushkin (2576) are leading the tournament with 5.0 points. Jojua and Shanava have the best result among Georgians. They are sharing the 11th and 12th places with 4.5-4.5 points. Levan Javakhishvili has 4.0 points and is in the 20th place. She is in the first place among women.

In the seventh round, Shanava will play against Ukrainian Vladimir Baklan (2620) with white pieces. Jojua and Javakhishvili will play with black pieces, against Turkish Suat Atalik (2619) and Belarusian Sergey Kasparov (2503).

Nine chess players are leading XIII OPEN INTERNACIONAL DE SANTS which is underway in Spain. Georgians are among the leaders. Levan Aroshidze (2575) is in the 44th place with 3.0 points. Ana Matnadze is in the 88th place with 2.5 points.
