Georgian national free-style wrestling team started Kiev international tournament very well. On the first day of two-day tournament five members of national team wrestled at this tournament and three of them: Vladimer Khinchegashvili (55 kg), Davit Marsagishvili (84 kg) and Davit Modzmanashvili (120kg) became champions.
Khinchegashvili wrestled three sets against compatriot Besik Guchashvili in the first circle. As for other rivals, he managed to beat American Eskobedo Angel, Russian Rober Okorokov, Ukrainian Mikola Aivazyan and in final Russian Arsen Kuramagomedov in two sets. In repechage Guchashvili could not manage to win two matches and as a result he took the seventh place.
As for Marsagishvili, he started tournament with beating Kazakh Semion Seminov. After that he beat American Gavin Keit and Haseman Brais. In semi-final match he won over Azerbaijani Ilia Khamikoev, in final he beat Russian Akhmed Magomedov. Davit Bichinashvili who represented Germany at this tournament lost chance of winning gold medal with Madomedov and finally he won bronze medal.
Modzmanashvili beat these following Ukrainian wrestlers before the final match: Oleg Ivanov, Mikhailo Dotsenko, Oleksandr Khotsianovsky and Moldovan Aleksand Romanov. In decisive fight he beat American Hanke Chad. In 66kg weight category Zurab Iakobashvili lost in the first round with Russian Ruslan Akhmedov and as a result he stayed beyond the tournament. Iakobashvili replaced Otar Tushishvili in the main staff for this tournament. Otar Tushvishvili, experienced member of Georgian national wrestling team injured at Georgian championship and could not recover yet, that’s why he decided not to wrestle at Ukrainian tournament. On February 16, prize-winners and champions will be found out in these following categories: 60, 74 and 96kg. Malkhaz Zarkua (60 kg), Davit Khutsishvili (74kg) and Elizmabr Odikadze (96 kg) will represent Georgia at Ukrainian tournament.
