2 Georgian wrestlers will participate in World Championship of Beach Wrestling which will take place in the city of Chernogoria, Budva on August 26-29. Georgian Wrestling Federation which disapproved 2-time world and 5-time european champion, freestyle wrestler Luka Kurtanidze, made its choice on Beldukh Gavashelishvili and general secretary of the federation Malkhaz Jorbenadze. Jorbenadze quit wrestling several years ago but now he is going to try a new kind of sport. His decision has been approved.
Except Gavashelishvili and Jorbenadze, Raul Tavartkiladze, secretary of the Adjara Sport, Monuments Protection and Culture minister, will represent Georgia in Chernogoria. He has been officially invited in Budva. Batumi will host Word Championship 2011 and organizers will give honorable flag to Tavartkiladze after the end of the championship.
Georgian delegation of 3 men left for Chernogoria on August 25 by Tbilisi - Istanbul - Podgorica flight and will return on August 31.
Winners (men and women) will be found out in 3 age-groups. At the beach wrestling weight classes are reduced up to two. Girls of the most young groups will wrestle in 55 and +55-weight classes and boys - in 60 and +60. Young women will wrestle in 60 and +60-weight classes, men - in 70 and +70 and elders - in 70, +70 and 85, +85.
Beldukh Gavashelishvili and Malkhaz Jorbenadze will wrestle with elders in +85-weight class. Both of them will start participation in the championship on August 28. Finals will be held on August 29.
Luka Kurtanidze wrestled in the name of Georgia at the World Championship last year and he won a silver medal. This year he was preparing to improve his result but the federation refused to compensate his expenses and he could not leave for Budva.
