Three Georgians in Grenoble

 

Georgian tennis players Maka Chakhnashvili, Sopo Shapatava and Tatia Mikadze spent last week in Andrezieux-Boutheon. They stayed in France and started participation in Grenoble international tournament (25 000 USD).

All three Georgian girls started competition in the qualifying draw and celebrated victories in the first round. No.5 seed Chakhnashvili beat Russian Elena Kulikova 1:6, 6:3, 6:1. No.12 seed Shapatava won over French Victoria Larriere 6:3, 6:3. No.15 seed Mikadze beat another host Estelle Cascino 6:3, 6:3.

Mikadze will have the strongest opponent in the last round of the qualifying draw. She will play against No.1 seed Croatian Ivana Lisjak. French Stephanie Vongsouthi will be the next opponent of Chakhnashvili. Shapatava will play against British Melanie South (No.6 seed).

German Tatjana Malek is No.1 seed player of Grenoble tournament. She is in the 137th place at Women’s Tennis Association (WTA).
