Georgian cadet judo team ended up European Championship with 7 medals and the team second place. The championship was held in the city of Malta, Cottonera. Today, 6 judokas wrestled from the team of Giorgi Vazagashvili. 4 of them stood on the pedestal. Beak Gviniashvili (81 kg) became European champion. Shalva Chocheli (90 kg) and Giorgi Lazuashvili (+90 kg) won silver medals. Guram Tushishvili (90 kg) took the third place.
Gviniashvili beat four opponents. In the first round, he won over German Tom Goerlitz, Russian Abdul-Malik Eldzharkiev and Georgian Davit Kharebava who competes in the name of Ukraine. In the final, Gviniashvili beat another member of Ukrainian team Bohdan Zusko. Zusko beat another Georgian Adam Varazishvili but lost against Kharebava in repechage final and finally took the fifth place. Varazishvili beat Belarusian Mikalai Baradzinou and Greek Konstantinos Saridis.
Latvian Glebs Talalujevs (90 kg) beat Guram Tushishvili in semifinal and Shalva Chocheli in final.
Lazuashvili lost against Russian Oleg Abaev. Before the final, Georgian heavyweight beat German Benjamin Bouizgarne, Ukrainian Sergiy Zveryev and Russian Alexey Sapunov. Heavyweight Giga Gelashvili showed the worst result from Georgians today. He lost against Croatian Matej Grubisa.
Besides 4 medalists, Vano Mamisashvili (gold), Tamaz Kirakozashvili (silver) and Levan Gugava (73 kg) showed themselves from Georgian team.
