The Fourth Semifinalist will be Found out in Additional Match

¼ final matches of playoff are coming to an end at Georgian 20th national basketball championship. Three finalists are already known. These teams are: “Army”, TSU and “Kutaisi-2010” which managed to beat “Energy Invest”, GTU and Samedicino. They won right to play in semifinal. As for the 4th finalist, it will be found out in additional match of MIA – “Sokhumi”. This match will be held at Tbilisi Sports Palace on May 7. In semifinal, TSU will play against “Kutaisi-2010”. Opponent of “Army” will be found out in the third additional match of MIA – “Sokhumi”. Semifinal match series will last until three victories. “Sokhumi” – MIA match turned out the most tense one.

MIA won the first match with 5-point difference – 77:72. As it was expected, the match started with advantage of “Sokhumi”. Levan Patsatsia and Lasha Pargalava played actively. At one moment, “Sokhumi” had 9-point advantage (22:13). In the second quarter, MIA managed to equalize score, then gained advantage and won the first half 37:34.  MIA played more actively at the last minutes of the third quarter and increased advantage up to 3 points (58:51).

The fourth quarter turned out decisive. Carl Damus and Lasha Pargalava (“Sokhumi”) left arena because of the 5th foul. In spite of it, “Sokhumi” played more actively.

Patsatsia became leader of the team after Pargalava left arena. The match ended up 78:72 in the favor of “Sokhumi”.

Levan Patsatsia, forward of “Sokhumi”, became the best player of this match. He collected 22 points. Besik Lejava was the best player from MIA. He earned 16 points.

The match of Samedicino – “Kutaisi-2010” turned out tense too. Like the first match won by “Kutaisi-2010”, the second one started with advantage of this team again. In the first half, the guests beat Samedicino. Especially, Tsekvava, Kvimsadze, Didia, Babunashvili and Gigi Barbakadze played actively. It is worth mentioning that at one moment, “Kutaisi-2010” had 25-point advantage. After the active playing of Mikheil Chochua and Jeff Rogers, the hosts minimized score to 5 points. Captain of the team and leader Buba Kvimsadze saved the team from losing. Mikheil Chochua (Samedicino) collected the most – 24 points in this match.

Buba Kvimsadze earned the most – 20 points from the guests.

As it was expected, “Army” and Samedicino managed to beat their opponents and won right to play in semifinal. TSU beat GTU 97:89.

Richard Matiashvili, central forward of TSU, became top scorer of this match. He scored 28 points and 15 rebounds.

Beak Chikviladze showed himself from GTU. He earned 24 points. His teammate Akaki Lomouri made double doubles (21 points, 10 rebounds).

The second match of “Energy Invest” and “Army” was held in Rustavi. In the first half, “Energy Invest” beat “Army” with 13-point difference – 39:26 but the team lost the match 83:56.

Cameroonian legionary Samuel Lamu became the best player of this match with 22 points and 10 rebounds.

Kote Tugushi, player of “Army” and Georgian national team, collected the same points. As for Anatoli Boisa, another member of Georgian national team and “Army”, he made double doubles (11 points, 10 rebounds).
