A 20-year-old Georgian tennis player Ekaterine Gorgodze managed to win the first title. She achieved success in the city of Spain, Mallorca, where international tournament (10 000 USD) was held.
Gorgodze was No.8 seed and she beat 5 opponents. In the first round, Ekaterine beat Italian Maria-Leticia Zaval 6:0, 6:2, then she won over Austrian Stephanie Hirsch 6:0, 7:6 (8:6). In ¼ final, she beat No.4 seed Sopo Kvatsabaia 5:7, 6:4, 6:1. In the semifinal, Ekaterine won over Italian Claudia Giovine and in the final, she beat Ukrainian Sophia Kovalets 6:4, 6:2.
Gorgodze lost the only one set at the tournament and this set was against Georgian Kvatsabaia. Ekaterine is in the 623rd place with 39 points at Women’s Tennis Association (WTA). This success will bring Gorgodze 12 rating points and she will advance with 60 places.
