In the seventh round of Chess Olympiad, ongoing in Istanbul, Georgian national women chess team lost the first match and regressed its tournament situation. Georgians lost with No.1 seed Chinese team- 1.5:2.5.
It is remarkable, that Bela Khotenahsvili who was playing with black pieces gained the only victory (2509). She beat Wenjun Zhu (2528). Nana Dzagnidze (2547) leader of the team played draw with Yifan Hou (2599), Lrla Javakhishvili (2458) lost with Qyan Huang (2449) and Nino Khurtsidze lost with Yixin Ding (2424).
In the seven round Georgian team has 10 points and it is in the 11th place, in case of victory they would be among leaders. Now Chinese, Russian and Pole teams are leaders with 12-12 points.
In the eighth round Georgian women chess players play against Serbians with black pieces, which has 10 points.
Georgian men team also had unsuccessful day, they lost with England. Mikheil Mchedlishvili (2659), Merab Gagunashvili (2578) and Konstantine Shanava (2569) lost with Micheal Adams (2722), Gevein Jhones (2653) and Davud Holes (2653) and Levan Pantsulaia (2575) lost with Nijel Short (2698).
Georgian national team is in the 28th place with 9 points, they hold the upcoming match with Turkey.
