Free-style wrestlers finished 2012 year season in Digomi, at Georgian championship which was held at Judo Academy. On the second day of the tournament- November 28 were found out champions and prize winners in three weight categories: 60, 74 and 96 kg weight categories. Like on the first day there were a lot of spectators on the tribunes on the last day and some of them were standing. There were a lot of mistakes of referees and video controls were demanded.
This time champions were became favorites. Vladimer Khinchegashvili silver prize-winner of London Olympic Games became champion in 60 kg weight category and passed the first exam very well.
“It was quite good championship. All the members of national team participated in this championship and, besides Giorgi Gogshelidze who is to finish his career. Favorites became champions in national championship. We saw surprised and first of all I would like to distinguish Geno Petriashvili’s wrestling. He is a prospective player and I expected him to show a big resistance against candidates of national team, but I did not expect him to become a champion. I am very pleased with wrestling of finalists in 66 kg weight categories- Konstantine Khabalashvili and Zurab Iakobashvili. Champions and of Georgia are the main candidates to become members of national team, supposedly before European championship prize-winners will be given chance of wrestling at international tournaments”-stated Zaza Turmanidze.
