Temur Shalamberidze: "Confidence of Boys Played Key Role in Victory"

“Dila” Gori defeated “Anorthosis” Famagusta 3:0 in an away match and is through playoff of Europa League. “World Sport” took an interview from Temur Shalamberidze, head coach of “Dila”, after the return from Cyprus.

-         At what expense did “Dila” achieve victory?

-         We did our best. We have high class players. Soon we will have a very strong team which can play against any team.

-         The result turned out surprising for many and perhaps, you were among those who believed in victory.

-         Of course, I believed. I stated at the press conference that my boys could turn the match and Cypriot journalist looked at me with irony. When we won, they understood that we cannot be defeated easily.

-         What was decisive in the match?

-         Confidence of the boys was decisive. They believed that they could win this match. We talked about it while break. The team believed in its strength.

-         What happened when there was mess on the stadium and you left it?

-         Spectators left tribunes and came down on the field. They went up to their players. Referees told us to leave the field. We were not allowed to leave dressing room and we were on the stadium till 01:00 am Tbilisi time. We were told that there was clash between fans and police outside. Finally, we left the stadium safely. As I know “Anorthosis” lost technically 0:3.

-         All players played their roles in victory of “Dila” but play of Mate Vatsadze is worth mentioning…

-         Everybody did its job. After the match Vatsadze stated at the press conference: “Not only one player wins the game but the whole team”.

-         How many matches will Gogita Gogua miss?

-         As I know only one. But the team has not received official report yet.

-         What did head coach of “Anorthosis” state at the press conference?

-         I have not seen the coach after the match.

-         The national championship is going to start and it is easy to guess the goal of “Dila”…

-         Our goal is to win the championship and cup. We will play on August 12 and I hope, the federation will postpone this match because the boys are tired.
