On February 18-22, Tbilisi “Sheraton Metekhi Palace” hotel hosts ACP Women Cup. 12 chess players will participate in this super-tournament. Among them are two Georgians – Maia Chiburdanidze (5- time world champion) and Nana Dzagnidze (Olympic champion). Among the participants are 3 world champions and 6 European champions. 6 participants of this following tournament are Olympic champions. Nana Aleksandria international grand master is the main referee of this tournament. All the matches will be broadcasted by internet in LIVE.

The tournament will be officially opened at Youth Chess palace at 20:00 o’clock on February 17.

Today the meeting was held between Lado Vardzelashvili Minister of Sports and Youth Affairs and organizers of women’s tournament.

Lado Vardzelashvili: “Tbilisi hosts one more serious tournament. 10 top female chess players of the world will play at this tournament. Maia Chiburdanidze and Nana Dzagnidze will represent Georgia and we hope that they will succeed. As for organizational affairs, everything is ready and we are ready to host this high-level tournament”.

Gia Giorgadze:  (President of Georgian chess federation): “As host country we can represent two chess players at this tournament and it goes without saying that it increases chances of our success” .
