Italia.com Open has started in Palermo. In the first round Georgian Anna Tatishvili defeated Dia Evtimova of Bulgaria (6:2, 6:2) who was winner of the qualifying draw.

Sara Errani of Italy (No.1 seed) won the first round. She won over Edina Gallovits-Hall of Romania (6:1, 6:1) in an hour and 10 minutes. Errani won the Palermo tournament in 2008. This year she played in final of Roland Garros. So, she is considered as a favorite of this tournament.

Carla Suarez Navarro of Spain will be the next opponent of Tatishvili in the second round. Navarro beat Sasha Jones of Australia 6:4, 6:1. Anabel Medina Garrigues who was No.4 seed lost the tournament.
