Tatishvili Plays at Bastad Tournament

 

Georgian top seed Anna Tatishvili earned points on WTA ranking and advanced with three places. 22-year-old Tatishvili is in the 73rd place in the ranking.

Anna is in Bastad (Sweden) and will compete in Sony Swedish Open from Tuesday. In the first round, 24-year-old Spanish Silvia Soler-Espisona will be opponent of Tatishvili. She is in the 63rd place with 1006 points. In 2009 Anna played against the Spanish at US Open and won 6:4, 6:2.

In doubles draw Georgian girl and Russian Valeria Solovieva will play against No.3 seed Croatian-Hungarian duet (Jurak-Marosi).

Last year Tatishvili played at Bastad tournament and in the first round she lost to future winner Polona Hercog (Slovenia) 5:7, 3:6. So, Anna does have to defend points in Sweden. 30 points are for overcoming the first round and winner will earn 280 points.

Sara Errani of Italy is the main candidate to win the tournament. Julia Gorges (Germany), Anabel Medina Garrigues (Spain) and Roberta Vinci (Italy) are also favorites.

Sofia Kvatsabaia will play in the main draw of Donetsk tournament (Ukraine, 50 000 USD). Kateryna Kozlova of Ukraine will be the first opponent of the Georgian tennis player. In doubles draw, Kvatsabaia and Olga Ianchuk of Ukraine will play against Masuri of Israel and Kyrylova of Ukraine.

Three Georgians are participating in Astana tournament (Kazakhstan, 25 000 USD). In the qualifying draw, Ekaterine Gorgodze will play against Alexandra Grinchishina of Kazakhstan. Sofia Shapatava will start participation from the main draw and is waiting for her opponent from the qualifying draw.

Oksana Kalashnikova will play only in doubles draw. No.3 seed duet of Kalashnikova and Russian Marta Sirotkina will play against Russian tandem (Isaeva-Kirillova). As for Gorgodze and Shapatava, they will play against belarussians – Milevskaya and Pirazhenka.

Maka Chakhnashvili is No.1 seed at Imola tournament (Italy, 25 000 USD). In the first round she will play against Julia Mayr of Italy.

Tamar Chalaganidze defeated Skye Hopper of Australia 6:4, 6:2 in the qualifying draw of Istanbul tournament (Turkey, 10 000 USD). Then, Tamar lost to Kana Daniel of Japan 1:6, 1:6. Natia Gegia and Ani Gogvadze will play in the main draw.
