Tatishvili Overcame the First Round

 

The 22-year-old Georgian tennis player Anna Tatishvili won over Arina Rodionova of Russia 6:0, 1:6, 7:6 (7:3). The mentioned match was held in the qualifying draw of Sydney tournament (690 000 USD).

Tatishvili had no problem in the first set. The Russian had advantage in the second one. Finally, winner was found out on tie-break of the third set. The Georgian tennis player beat her opponent (world No.247).

Anna served one ace and made 13 (!) double faults (her opponent had 10 double faults and 6 aces). Anna used 5 from 17 break-points. Rodionova made 4 from 14 breaks. Overall Tatishvili earned 101 points and the Russian – 93.

Tatishvili earned 8 ranking points. In the second round she will play against Claire Feuerstein of France. The French defeated Julia Cohen of America 6:3, 6:3. Feuerstein is 26 years old and is in the 135th place on the ranking. Anna will play against her for the first time.

The match between Tatishvili and Feuerstein will be held on January 5. If Anna beats the French, she will earn 12 points. If Anna wins, the Georgian girl will play against winner between Kimiko Date-Krumm of Japan and Vania King of America.

Winner of the qualifying draw will gain 20 points. In the main draw Anna will play against one of these players: Casey Dellacqua (Australia, “Wild Card”), Daniela Hantuchova (Slovakia), Lucie Safarova (Czech Republic), Sara Errani (Italy, No.3 seed), Julia Goerges (Germany), Yanina Wickmayer (Belgium).
