Georgian tennis player Anna Tatishvili holds the next match at Miami prestigious tournament (prize money 4 828 050 USD). The second round matches start at 19:00 o’clock, Anna’s rival is No.16 seed Dominika Cibulkova of Slovakia.
In the first round of the main draw of Sony Ericsson Open, Tatishvili was beating Tamira Paszek of Austria 6:4, 4:3 when her opponent retired. Georgian tennis player defended 50 rating points which she earned last year and besides that she won 12 725 USD. In case of victory she gains 80 points and 21 000 USD. It is Tatishvili’s first match against Cibulkova.
Now Cibulkova is No.18 seed of the world, she reached her career peak in 2009, when she took the 12nd place. Tatishvili’s career peak is the 77th place. That’s why Slovak player is considered as favorite in this match.
But it is newsworthy that Cibulkova is does not compete convincingly in this season and if Tatishvili shows her maximum of possibilities, beating Slovak player is not imaginable. This year Cibulkova participated in seven tournaments and managed to go through the second circle in each tournament.
Oksana Kalashnikova and Russian Evgenya Pashkoba No.2 seed duet managed to go through the semi-final in the tournament which is underway in the city of Kazhakhstan, Alma-Ata (prize money 25 000 USD). Georgian and Russian duet beat German Graidek and Pole Yegiolka 6:4, 6:2. In the final match they will play against Slovak-Ukrainian duet (Honcva-Vasilieva).
Duet of Natia Gegia and Kazakh Natalya Berezhnaya lost with Uzbek-Belarusian tandem (Khabibulina-Kremen, No.4 seed) 0:6. 5:7. In single tournament Gegia lost with Kagla Buiukakchai – 1:6, 0:6.
