Tatishvili Guaranteed 70 Points, 1/4 Final Is Ahead!

As it was expected, Anna Tatishvili easily beat Vanda Lukacs (6:1, 6:2) in 1/8 final of Budapest Grand Prix (220 000 USD). The match lasted only 54 minutes. Anna earned 70 rating points.

In the first round of Hungarian tournament, Tatishvili defeated No.3 seed Tsvetana Pironkova of Bulgaria 1:6, 6:3, 6:1. In 1/8 final, Anna did not find it difficult to beat the tennis player who is in the 980^th place on WTA ranking. Georgian tennis player (world No.81) had advantage for the whole match.

Tatishvili served one ace and made one fault (her rival made 8 double faults and did not serve an ace). Anna used 5 from 10 break-points. Overall, Georgian tennis player won 58 points and Hungarian – 34.

Winner between Alexandra Cadantu of Romania (world No.74) and Aleksandra Wozniak of Canada (world No.57) will be opponent of Anna in ¼ final. Romanian won the first set 7:2. Canadian is winning the second set 3:0.

As we have already mentioned, Tatishvili earned 70 points. In case of overcoming another round, she will win 130 points. Finalists of Hungarian tournament will gain 200 points and winner – 280. Considering that draw of London Olympic Games will be published soon, each victory is very precious for Tatishvili.

Top 56 tennis players will compete in Olympiad (other 6 places are for winners of the qualifying matches and specially invited tennis players). Though, as only four tennis players from each country are allowed to compete in Olympiad, 5-6 places will be added to this number.

Tatishvili needs to reach the 60^th-65^th places which will be difficult to do.

Eleni Danilidou of Greece who is in the 65^th place has 930 points. Anna has 772 points. In short, Budapest Grand Prix is very important for Tatishvili.

Today, Tatishvili will play on the court again. In ¼ final of doubles draw, Anna and Katalin Marosi will play against the duet of Dekmeijere of Latvia and Kondratieva of Russia. In the first round, Georgian and Hungarian tennis players defeated No.3 seed Uzbek-Polish tandem (Amanmuradova-Rosolska) and earned 70 rating points.
