As it was expected, Anna Tatishvili who was tired after ¼ final match, found it difficult to beat Sara Errani of Italy. The match ended up 6:2, 6:1 in the favor of the Italian.
The match between Tatishvili and Errani was held at Budapest Grand Prix (220 000 USD) and winner went through final. The match lasted one hour and No.1 seed Italian who won 25 matches (!) in a row had obvious advantage.
Georgian tennis player did not serve ace. She made two double faults (her rival had neither ace nor double faults) and used none of two break-points. Errani used 5 (!) from 7 breaks. Overall Anna won 34 points and Errani – 59.
In spite of everything, we must call competition of Tatishvili successful. Anna played in semifinal of WTA tournament for the first time. She earned 130 points.
Considering that draw of London Olympic Games will be published soon, each victory was very precious for Tatishvili.
Top 56 tennis players will compete in Olympiad (other 6 places are for winners of the qualifying matches and specially invited tennis players). Though, as only four tennis players from each country are allowed to compete in Olympiad, 5-6 places will be added to this number.
Tatishvili needs to reach the 60th-65th places which will be difficult to do. Eleni Danilidou of Greece who is in the 65th place has 930 points. Anna has 772 points. After yesterday’s success, she will have more than 900 points and perhaps, Anna will get in Top 70.
After singles match, Tatishvili will play again. Anna and her partner Katalin Marosi of Hungary will play against Slovak duet (Husarova-Rybarikova) in semifinal of doubles draw.
