Tatishvili and Chakhnashvili will Play at Olympics

 

Two members were added to Georgian delegation for London Olympics 2012. These are tennis players Anna Tatishvili and Maka Chakhnashvili. They will leave for foggy Albion by quota of International Tennis Federation (ITF).

This news spread yesterday when ITF published participants list. Top 56 of the ranking is allowed at Olympics (four participants from each country), ITF named after 8 tennis players.

Tatishvili was named by ITF. In doubles draw, Tatishvili and will compete with Chakhnashvili. It is important event for Georgian tennis.

In London, tennis tournament will be held from July 28 to August 5 on Wimbledon courts. In case of overcoming the first round of women’s tournament participant will earn 55 ranking points. Champion will gain – 685 points, silver medal winner – 470 and bronze medal winner – 340.

On June 27, Anna Tatishvili will hold one of the most important matches on her career. Georgian top seed will play against Camila Giorgi on London courts. In case of victory, the Georgian will make through the third round of Wimbledon.

Tatishvili who is in the 73rd place on WTA ranking defeated Tamarine Tanasugarn of Thailand 6:4, 6:2. Giorgi (world No.145) beat Flavia Pennetta (No.16 seed) 6:4, 6:3.

The match between Tatishvili and Giorgi will be held on the 16th court not before 20:00 Tbilisi time. It will start after the end of the match between Falla of Colombia and Mahut of France.

In case of victory Anna will earn 160 ranking points. I defended 100 points and she will add 60 points. If Anna wins, in the third round she will play against winner between Petrova of Russia and Babos of Hungary.
