Georgian national rugby seven’s team beat Dutch national team in the first match at European Grand Prix 2012 – 24:21. The opponent team showed a strong resistance to Georgians and Kakha Alania’s players needed to mobilize very much against them.
Everything starts well, at the 1:36 minute Giorgi Kalmakhelidze scored first try, soon Merab Kvirikashvili scored try, after it “Meko” realized and Georgia advanced 12:0.
The Dutch scored a responsive try soon and at the 6th minute they scored the second try. At the seventh minute Irakli Gegenava scored a responsive try and after realizing conversion kick the first period ended with the following score – 19:14.
The second period did not start in favor of Georgia. Holland scored the third try and soon the score was – 19:21.
At the 10th minute Kvirikashvili started combination, assisted to Gegenava who won over two defenders, he could not keep balance, stepped the line and that’s why try was annulled. At the 12nd minute Giorgi Pruidze started attack assisted to Todua, who went on attack on the right wing, where Dimitry Gogoladze played against the opponent defender well and crossed the line. Conversion kick was not correct, but till the expiring time Georgians managed to keep the ball, parried the ball out in out and finally the match ended in favor of them – 24:21.
Georgian national team holds the second match against Ukraine at 15:28 o’clock.
