Sturua Has a Chance to Become Champion

 

Georgian chess player Zurab Sturua (2512) defeated Armenian Ashot Anastasyan (2578) with white pieces before the last round of Abu Dhabi Chess Festival. He collected 5.5 points and shares the 2nd-3rd places with another Armenian Avetik Grigoryan.
Ukrainian Anton Korobov (2657) is leading the tournament which takes place in the capital of the United Arab Emirates. Korobov has 6.0 points. In the final 9th round Sturua will play against Korobov with black pieces and in case of win he will have a good chance to become champion.
Women's tournament has already finished. Nana Gurieli (2329) collected 7.5 points like Ana Zozulia (2340) who competed in the name of Belgium. According to the additional data, Gurieli took the second place.
Gurieli won 543 USD from prize money. Winner of Men's tournament will win 3 533 USD.
