Strengthened 7s Team Loses with Russia in Denmark

 


Kakha Alania head coach of Georgian Rugby Sevens team took strengthened team at the third stage of Europe Grand Prix ongoing in the city of Denmark, Odense. In spite of this Georgian team could not manage to beat Russian team in the first match.
As a result of the first two stages (Lion, Moscow), coaches were given chance to take those sportsmen who accompanied national ream at Northen-American tournament. Instead of 12 teams, there are 16 participants at Odense stage, four countries added to 12 teams: Romania, Belgium, Lithuania and Denmark.

As a result there are four groups. Today are held three-three matches of the group stage and tomorrow eight top teams will fight for I-VIII and another eight for IX-XVI places.
In group C, Georgia is with Russia, Ukraine and Belgium. In spite of failure with Russia (0:12) Georgian tam has a quite good chance of taking the second place. But for this they need to beat Ukraine and Belgium. Georgian team plays at Odense tournament with this following line-up: Beka Bitsadze, Merab Sharikadze, Davit Chitidze, Irakli Gvinjilia, Ivane Davitashvili, Lasha Khmaladze, Aleksandre Nizharadze, Giorgi Kalmakhelidze, Tedo Zibzibadze, Shalva Makharashvili, Giorgi Pruidze, Giorgi Kacharava.
