Spain will face Argentina for the fifth-place match

 

The semifinal matches of the 2010 FIBA World Championship will be held on September 11th, while yesterday the games for fifth and seventh places were held. In the first game present World Champions Spain gave no chance to the Slovenian side. After losing the first quarter by seven points, Spaniards managed to make a huge turnaround and win the game with a score of 97:80. Sergio Scariolli team performed especially well in the fourth quarter which it won 33:18.

Barcelona defensive player Juan Carlos Navarro was on the top of the Spanish score list with 26 points and 7 assists. Iaka Lakovic and Goran Dragich scored 19 points each for Slovenia.

Spain will play against Argentina who beat overheated Russia, which was without CSKA Moscow center Sasha Kaun, with a score of 73:61. South American were leading throughout the whole match bringing the final breakthrough in the final quarter, where they received only 9 points and scored 19. Luis Scola scored a team-high 27 points, while his teammate Carlos Delfino scored one point less – 26. Team Russia cptain Sergei Monya scored 17 points.

Today Slovenia will play against Russia for the seventh place.
