Soso Jabidze, member of Georgian Greco-Roman wrestling team, gained license of London Olympic Games at the international tournament which ended up in the city of China, Ta-Yuan today. Georgian wrestler (96kg) won bronze medal. But this result was not enough for Olympic norm and Jabidze guaranteed the license after beating the second bronze medal winner Balas Kis of Hungary.
In the main draw Soso Jabidze defeated two rivals – Jasulan Sidikov of Kazakhstan and Azat Erkimbaev of Kyrgyzstan. In ¼ final, Jabidze lost to Shalva Gadabadze who competed in the name of Azerbaijan. In repechage, Jabidze beat Evgeniy Achkasov of Uzbekistan and David Vala of Czech Republic.
Today, heavyweighter Guram Perseladze wrestled on the mat and needed two victories for license. He lost chance of gold-silver medal while wrestling against Georgian who competed in the name of other country. After defeating Hyun-Gyu Kim of South Korea, Mindaugas Mizgaitis of Lithuania and Otto Schmidtt of Germany, Perseladze went through semifinal and lost to Ioseb Chugoshvili who wrestled in the name of Belarus. In repechage final, Perseladze lost to Johan Magnus Euren of Sweden and finally took the fifth place.
Only one tournament is left till the end of London license marathon – finalists will gain Olympic licenses in the capital of Finland, Helsinki, on May 4-6. Georgian team has license winners in three from seven weight classes: in 66, 74 and 96kg.
