After the 2011 European Qualifying game defeat against the Belgians, Georgian team's players and head coach recognized their fault. As it was expected Igor Kokoshkov saw guilty himself only; however, Victor Sanikidze blamed players as well.
Igor Kokoshkov (Georgian national team head coach): “I congratulate Belgian players. They played well. We were tired however it is not the thing to justify us. We had a deal against a very experienced opponent, against a team who knows how to play. Last year’s Belgium win over France did not happen by accident. Back then, our today’s opponent lacked one step to get enrolled in the European Basketball Championships. Georgian team is a full of youngsters, who gain experience game after game, quarter after quarter. Now we should remain team unity and continue to go on. We are awaiting very tough match-ups against Portugal and Bulgaria. I take on responsibility for the today’s defeat. ”
Victor Sanikidze: “Traditionally, head coach took on the responsibility for the defeat; however, I do not agree with him. This game was lost by us. We played bad. We have no time for relaxation as we have two huge games to play.”
Taurean Green: “Defeat by such a big margin was conditioned by our terrible game and a good game of visitors. There two more games to go. We should do whatever it takes as everything depends on us.”
Cristoff Begin: “We have not played such a good offensive game for quiet a time. We knew that this game was the one to decide which team will finish on the first place. We came out on the floor mobilized and reached the result we preferred. Georgia has good defensive players, forwards and centers; you do not find many teams that got center like Pachulia.”
