Six Georgians will Attack London Chinese Chance

 

Georgian freestyle wrestling team will compete in international tournament with one sportsman. Greco-Romans will have five participants. The tournament will take place in the city of China, Ta-Yuan, on April 27-29. These weight classes have not gained licenses for London Olympic Games yet.

The team of Zaza Turmanidze needs license in 66kg. Zurab Iakobashvili wrestled in this weight class at the license tournament which was held in Sofia. But he could not go through final. Otar Tushishvili, experienced member of the team, will compete in Ta-Yuan. In Sofia, Vladimer Khinchegashvili (55kg) and Giorgi Gogshelidze (96kg) won licenses. Malkhaz Zarkua (60kg), Davit Khutsishvili (74kg), Davit Marsagishvili (84kg) and Davit Modzmanashvili (120kg) achieved their goal at last World Championship.

Only Manuchar Tskhadaia (66kg) and Zurab Datunashvili (74kg) gained licenses in Greco-Roman team. Begi Darchia, head coach of Greco-Romans, will take the main candidates of the team to China. The following sportsmen will wrestle in the name of Georgia in Ta-Yuan: Lasha Gogitadze (55kg), Revaz Lashkhi (60kg), Vladimer Gegeshidze (84kg), Soso Jabidze (96kg) and Guram Perseladze (120kg).

3-3 best wrestlers of each weight class will gain license in China. Finalists will win London license, the third-placed wrestlers will wrestle against each other. If sportsman who has already guaranteed license will get in quota, sportsman behind him will gain license.

Wrestlers will end up license marathon in Helsinki on May 4-6. They must go through final to gain license in the capital of Finland.
