Silver Experiment of Manuchar Tskhadaia

Georgian national Greco-Roman wrestling team finished Belgrade European championship with one medal. Manuchar Tskhadaia prize winner of Europe and World won silver medal in 74 weight category instead of 66. So, it can be said that the experiment was lucky, but in spite of this at Olympic Games Tskahadaia will wrestle again in 66 kg weight category.
Sportsman of Georgia (2009) held five matches in Serbia. He managed to beat German Fabian Janick, Austrian Florian Marchel, French Christophe Rene Marchel Guenot and Laithuanian Alexandr Kazakevic in two sets. In final match he lost with World Champion Russian Roman Vlasov. This following match also lasted for two sets. Vlasov won the first set 7:2 and the second one also ended in favor of him (1:1), as a result Manuchar Tskhadaia won silver medal.
European champion Revaz Lashkhi also wrestled in other weight category than he used to in the past (66kg), but in comparison with Tskhadaia this experiment was not lucky- Georgian wrestler stopped competition at the beginning of the tournament. He lost with Croatian Dominic Etlinger.
Today Valadimer Gegeshidze (84kg) also wrestled but he could not enter in top three. After beating French Melonin Numonvy (3:1, 6:9) and Artur Omarov (3:0, 3:3) of Czech Republic, he lost chance of fighting for gold-silver medal in quarter final with Bulgarian Xristo Dianov Marinov. In repechage final lost with Hungarian Viktor Lorintz in a very tense match and finally took the seventh place.
