Silver and License

Manuchar Tskhadaia member of Georgian Greco-Roman style wrestling team again won silver medal at World Championship, which is underway in the capital of Turkey, Istanbul. He won silver medal two years ago too.

The best sportsman of Georgia in 2009 started the tournament with winning over Mohamed Serir of Algeria, then he beat Swiss Paskal Shtrebel, Hungarian Tamash Lorinc and Cuban Pedro Isaak Mulen Herera.  In semi-final he won over American Jastine Dashaun Lester. In final match he lost with Saeyd Morad Abdvaly of Iran n two periods – 0:1;0:2.

Today champions and prize winners found out in 55 and 96 weight categories. Members of Georgian team lost chance of winning silver and gold medals at the beginning of the match. They even do not have chance of wrestling in repechage.
Lasha Gogitadze (55 kg) lost in the first round with Ukrainian Vugar Ragimov. Irakli Kajaia (96 kg) started competition from 1/16 final and lost with experienced Egyptian Mohamed Ibrahim Abdelpatah. Debutant of Georgian team won the first set, but could not manage to keep advantage.

Tomorrow champions and prize winners will be found out in 60, 84 and 120 weight categories. Revaz Lashkhi (60 kg), Vladimer Gegeshidze (84 kg) and Shota Gogisvanidze (120 kg) will represent Georgia. Lashkhi starts competition in 1/16 final and he wrestles against world vice-champion Riutaro Macumoto. In case of winning he will wrestle against French Tarik Belmadan or South-Korean Ji-Iun Yang.  
Gegeshidze wrestles against French Melonin Numonv.
Gogisvanidze fights against Iranian Bashir Asgar Babajanzade in the first round. Supposedly winner will wrestle against Yoseb Chugoshvili.
