Georgian tennis player Sopho Shapatava won the third match in the qualifying round of the international tennis tournament ongoing in the capital of Kazakhstan, Astana (prize money 100 000 USD). As a result she went through the main draw, where she succeeded too.
In the decisive round, Sopho’s rival was No.3 seed Ukrainian Nadia Kichenko. Shapatava beat her 5:7, 6:1, 6:3 and then Japanese Kurumi Nara (No.155 seed in WTA ranking) 7:5, 6:2.
In the 1/8 final Sopho plays against Nadya Kichenko’s sister Ludmila. Ludmila Kichenko defeated Kazakh Ekaterina Kliueva 6:0, 6:0 in the first circle. Now, Shapatava has 121 points and she is No.349 seed of WTA. She earned 18 points as a result of going through the 1/8 final of Astana tournament. Quarter-final gives 36 points, semi-final -70 points, final – 100 and the winner 140 points.
Oksana Kalashnikova who plays in the main draw, lost the first match with Turkish Carla Buiukakchai 4:6, 4:6. In the doubles tournament Kalashnikova and Russian Marta Sirotkina (No.4 seed) beat Kazakh (Kliueva-Iepisheva) 6:2, 6:1 and in the quarter final they play against host duet (Danilina-Khairudinova).
In Turkey, in the decisive round of qualifying tournament of Izmir (prize money 10 000 USD) Turkish Tamar Chalagadze beat Sena Lara Nural 6:0, 6:1 and now she plays against Belgian Catherin Shantraine. As for Natia Gegia, she plays against No.8 seed Linda Mayr.
In Azerbaijan, at Baku tournament (prize money 220 000 USD) Ekaterine Gorgodze plays with “Wild Card” beat Spanish Estrela Cabeza Canadela -1:6, 1:6.
