Two Georgian tennis players overcame the first round of Telavi tournament (Georgia, 50 000 USD). Sofia Shapatava defeated Ines Ferrer-Suarez of Spain 6:1, 7:6 (7:2). Oksana Kalashnikova was beating Anastasia Grymalska of Italy 7:5, 5:2 when her opponent retired.
In 1/8 final Shapatava will play against winner between Perrin of Switzerland and Floris of Italy (No.7 seed). Kalashnikova will play winner between Hogenkamp of Holland (No.6 seed) and Kan of Russia.
In the first round Maka Chakhnashvili will play against Ekaterine Gorgodze. Sofia Kvatsabaia will play against Tereza Mrdeza (No.5 seed) and Natia Gegia – against Anna Shkudun of Ukraine.
In doubles draw Chakhnashvili and Kvatsabaia lost to Russian-Ukrainian 3:6, 1:6, Mariam Kurasbediani and Babilina Machaidze – to Jani of Hungary and Shakovets of Germany 0:6, 1:6, Margalita Chichashvili and Natela Tsiklauri of Russia – to Majeric of Slovenia and Shkudun 0:6, 1:6.
Tamar Chalaganidze and Ani Gogvadze will play against Shapatava and Lebesheva of Belarus, Kalashnikova and Dzehalevich of Belarus – against No.1 seed Ukrainian sisters Kichenok.
