Shanava Wins Istanbul Chess Tournament

 

Konstantine Shanava (2561) international grand master has a perfect season. This year Shanava took the second place at Karen Asryan memorial, which was held in Armenia. In august he agan took the second place at international tournament which was held in Czech Republic, last month he was half-point behind champion of international chess tournament, which was held in Greece. In Turkey he won Izmir tournament and then Istanbul chess festival.  
At Istanbul chess festival Ukrainian Andrey Sumec (2579) had better ranking than he, but in spite of this Shanava managed to beat the main rival. Finally, Shanava won six matches from 9. He played three draws at this tournament. Totally he gained 7.5 points as well as Ukrainian Valery Neverov, but Georgian chess player had better ranking points and as a result he took the first place and was awarded with 2500 USD.  
Giorgi Baghaturovi (2468) who gained 6.5 points at Istanbul tournament was awarded with 500 USD, Armen Grigoriev (2282) who represented Georgia at this following tournament took the 15th place with 6.0 points. There were 100 participants at this tournament.
