Shanava Was Half Point Behind Host

 

Georgian chess player Konstantine Shanava (2686) ended up participation in Metz international tournament. He was half point behind winner.

XXX Open International de Metz was based on Swiss system and 46 chess players (20 Grandmasters and 14 international masters) participated in it.

Sebastien Feller of France (2644) took the first place with 6.5 points. Six chess players were 0.5 points behind him. Shanava was among them. He took the 4th place. Another Georgian Tornike Sanikidze (2549) took the 12th place with 5.5 points.

In April Shanava earned 7.5 points in 9 rounds in the city of Germany, Deizisau. He was only behind Andrei Istratescu of France (2633). In the last round Shanava defeated Etienne Bacrot (2706).
