Shanava Is only behind Champion

 

Georgian Grand Master Konstantine Shanava (2576) showed good result at chess tournament which end up in the province of Spain, Caseres. He was No.5 seed in XVII VILLA DE NAVALMORAL 2011. Finally, he earned 6.5 points in nine rounds and took the second place.

Koka Shanava won over Bogdan Lalic of Croatia (2454) and Henrik Teske of Germany (2538) in the decisive rounds. He had better additional data than Julio Granda Zuniga of Peru (2636) but lost to him in the seventh round.

Another Georgian participant Tornike Sanikidze earned 5.0 points and took the 18th place among 69 participants.

Sergey Fedorchuk of Ukraine (2632) became winner of XVII VILLA DE NAVALMORAL 2011. He won this tournament for the third time (in 2008 and 2009). Sergey won 3 000 EUR from 14 500 EUR. Shanava got 2 000 EUR.

Ana Matnadze (2438) is in the second place after four rounds of the Benidorm tournament. Georgian chess player won over hostess Maria Serato (2069) in the third round. Then, she played draw against Anastasia Savina of Russia (2343) with black pieces and is 0.5 points behind her.

In the fifth round, Matnadze will play against another Spanish Laura Colado (2078) with white pieces. The Benidorm tournament will end up on December 11.
