“SEU” became champion of “University Rompetroliada”. “SEU” beat “TSU” 3:2 in the final which was held at gym of Georgian Technical University. “GTU” took the 3rd place. University team is formed on the base of the winner team and this team will participate in World and European University Championships in summer.
Aleksandre Albin, general director of “Rompetrol-Georgia”, and Nikoloz Amashukeli, president of University Sports Federation, attended the final match. They rewarded the winners with cups, medals, diplomas and valuable gifts.
“The final match turned out tense and interesting. Shota Topuria and Amiran Tskhomaria from “SEU” scored goals. Irakli Todua and Kakha Maisaia from “TSU” showed themselves. Players of “SEU” managed to score a decisive goal at the end of the second half – 3:2.
Amiran Tskhomaria (“SEU”) became the best player of the tournament. Lasha Tsamalashvili (“GTU”) was named as the best goalkeeper.
“Before the final match, “GTU” beat “University of Georgia” 5:4 in the match for the third place”, - Nikoloz Amashukeli, president of University Sports Federation, stated it.
According to representatives of “Rompetrol Georgia”, the company supports development of youth sport.
“Rompetrol” is financing University sports because of only one reason – to encourage young sportsmen and to help establish healthy lifestyle. “We are happy that we are able to support more than 20 universities which joined University sports. Development of different types of sports will be our main priority and the most important is to support new sportsmen”, - states general director of “Rompetrol Georgia Aleksandre Albin”.
On November 9, memorandum was signed between “Rompetrol Georgia” and University Sports Federation at Ministry of Sports and Youth Affairs. According to the memorandum, “Rompetrol” will support all university sports activities in 2010-11. All tournaments will be called “University Rompetroliada”.
