See You Soon in Slovenia!

After the match I met Igor Kokoskov and asked if he was going to continue working with Georgian national basketball team. Serbian specialist answered the following:” I feel great in Georgian national team and basketball federation does its best to help me in working. So, I think there will not be any problem in prolongation of the contract. But the main is another thing. I am not the main person in this team, basketball players are. I am glad, that the team was created, which can fight for high goals. Who will be head coach of the team is not decisive”.
To my mind, Kokoskov’s word exactly expresses real situation of Georgian national team. Georgians started European championship with failure series, but in spite of this none of the member of federation was not shy as well as the basketball players. First of all, Georgian national team proved for itself that they can fight against European grand teams if they improve their playing. As Manuchar Markoishvili stated before the match against Greece, beating those teams at upcoming European championship in Slovenia is quite possible.
The match against Greece was the same as the previous matches. Georgian team showed big resistance against one of the European grands, won the first time with three points, but in the second half they could not do anything against Greek defensive line and made a lot of mistake, as a result Georgians lost with 13 points difference…
Before the match, very interesting statistics was distinguished. Georgian national team was on the third place at European championship with numbers of rebounds (avarange 37.4) and Greece - the fourth place (37.3). According to it very tense match was ahead. But after time-out the results was the following – Greece 9 rebounds and Georgia 23 rebounds. Finally Georgian team rebounded 39:25 and so called the second attack the result was 20:4, but these two results were enough for achieving desirable result.
The Greek scored two point kicks well (63%), scored more three point kicks than the rival, won in turn-over 5:0, due to Georgian mistakes they scored 21 points. As a result they achieved desirable goal and beat Georgian national team – 73:60.
